Joe Murphy was ratified as manager of the Carlow Senior Footballer for a three-year term at a county committee meeting on Tuesday evening.
The Éire Óg clubman took over from Shane Curran after the league season on an interim basis and had his first game in charge against Meath in the Leinster Championship.
Murphy remained in charge for the Tailteann Cup, the highlight coming in the opening round of the groups when Carlow beat eventual semi-finalists Fermanagh in the opening.
Carlow’s season was eventually ended against Sligo in the preliminary quarter-finals but Murphy proved to be a popular figure among players and supporters.
Chairperson Jim Bolger said: “I wish Joe and his Backroom Team well and assure them of the full support of the County Board & clubs of the county”.
