Donagh Murphy continued a brilliant week on Wednesday evening.
The Mount Leinster Rangers youngster scored 1-4 last weekend as Carlow began their National League campaign with a win over Down, a performance that earned him a place on the GAA’s Hurling Team of the Week.
He followed that with a brilliant display for DCU in the Fitzgibbon Cup as he scored a late decisive goal for DCU as they beat MTU Cork in the Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-final by 4-13 to 1-15.
DCU move into the semi-final and there is an added incentive this year with the final to be played at Croke Park, where Murphy has already enjoyed All-Ireland success at schools level with St Kieran's College.
Murphy in the last standing Carlow man in the top level Higher Education competitions after Wednesday night's game. Kyle Foley's performances in goal for SETU Waterford drew plaudits but they were beaten away to University of Galway.
In the Sigerson Cup, Ben McCarron kept a clean against University of Galway but it wasn't enough as they lost at home by a point.
