The issue of shorts vs skorts in Camogie has dominated headlines across the country for the last few weeks. There was a protest ahead of both the Leinster Intermediate and Senior Camogie finals that took place last Sunday, with players coming out in shorts, before being made to go back in and change into skorts.

Carlow captain, Niamh Canavan addressed the issue after their victory over Laois in the Intermediate final on Saturday, saying that she hopes common sense will prevail.

“It's been disappointing at times, but we'll back our fellow Camogie players and we can only hope common sense will prevail next week after Special Congress. We just tried to not get too distracted by it and just focus on the game, and we really did that so we're delighted and hopefully common sense will prevail.”

In a statement released today, Carlow Camogie Association have polled players across the county and they have returned a 100% mandate for choice, shorts or skorts, and that mandate will be brought to Special Congress later today. 100% of clubs voted.
