Carlow Ladies’ football side will travel to face Cavan in round 3 of the Lidl Ladies’ National football league Division 3, at 2pm in Kingspan Breffni park.
Carlow come into this game following an impressive six-point victory over Offaly at home last weekend.
Cavan come into the game following a comfortable away win against Down last weekend.
Cavan are hot favourites for many to make a swift return to Division 2 this year, so this Sunday’s clash will be Carlow’s toughest test to date.
Aisling Sherdian has been in impressive form for the Ulster side so far this season and is currently one of the highest scorers in the league.
Last year, Sherdian returned to Ireland from Australia. The Mullahoran native had played AFLW with Collingwood for a number of years, alongside fellow Irish such as Sarah Rowe of Mayo.
Many of the players playing in Breffni Park this Sunday, will have faced each other in the LGFA All-Ireland Intermediate club football championship semi-final, before Christmas.
Bennekerry/Tinryland faced Sherdian’s club in that semi-final, with the Carlow club coming out on top. Of the course the girls in black of amber would go onto win that All-Ireland championship, after they defeated Annaghdown of Galway in Croke park.
Like the game this weekend, Bennekerry/Tinryland went into that game as underdogs but showed unbelievable commitment and desire to win the game, something which the Carlow County team will be looking to emulate this weekend.
Carlow currently sit fourth in Division 3 after their win last weekend, while Cavan sit in second, with two wins from two games. It is important to note that Carlow have only played one game to date.
Throw-in at Kingspan Breffni Park this Sunday is at 2pm.
