Burren hoping for third time lucky after reaching another final

Veteran Burren Rangers player Joe Waters strikes a low ball into his forwards against St Mullins.
It took the winners time to settle in this junior hurling championship semi-final at Tinryland on Saturday but once they did, Burren Rangers advanced to a third final in a row Dylan Townsend got Rangers off the mark when he converted a free and it nearly got better for the eventual winners when Jim Nolan had a shot which the St Mullins keeper, Mark Ryan, did well to save. While John Murphy and Mossie Murphy raised white flags for St Mullins, they found themselves in deep trouble as Conor Bolger, Billy Shanahan and Daniel Bolger also pointed for Burren.
Shanahan himself scored the first goal for Rangers when he took a clever pass from Seamus English Hayden and beat Ryan between the Mullins posts.
At half-time, Burren led 1-10 to 0-5 and only a major collapse was going to deny them.
That never looked likely as Townsend and Daniel Bolger were the first players to score in the second half. Substitute, Michael Fenlon replied with a St Mullins point but it was more token resistance than anything else.
At the Wexford end of the ground, Burren Rangers continued to pick off their points with Townsend very much in form with some great ball striking.

Not to be outdone, Billy Nolan came into the action to score a goal. In reply and right at the end, John Murphy went for his three-pointer from a 20m free and was successful.
It was all too easy for Burren. No doubt their mentors got a quick look at the other semi-final which started 15 minutes later on the other pitch. With Mount Leinster Rangers coming through there, a hungry and ravenous group will surely have a lot to think about as they go in search of this coveted junior title.
