The first half was lit up with some quality point taking from Carlow Town where Allen Bowe and Fiach Donnelly found the posts from out on the right at the tunnel end of the ground. The Oak Park Road side led 1-5 to 0-4 with the goal arriving in the opening minutes when Carlow Town raided down the right and Bowe fired into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Rangers were in trouble but they enjoyed a good spell in the final ten minutes of the half where James Flood added two points to the earlier ones he scored. At the interval Carlow Town led 1-5 to 0-4.
In that first half, Carlow keeper, Senan Sheehan made a great smother save to deny Flood. Later in the game with Carlow Town all but assured of victory he dived to his right at the scoreboard end when Joe Walsh got behind the Carlow defence.

Early in the second half, two points on the trot for the eventual winners cemented their position. While James Flood pointed for the Borris side, their task was made even more difficult when Cian Howard found the Rangers net to quench any attempted comeback.
