Waterford’s Pat Bennett is the man that Carlow GAA have turned to after Tom Mullally’s departure last week from his position as the manager of the Carlow senior hurlers.
The Carlow County Board have moved quickly and subject to ratification, Bennett, who is the father of Waterford hurlers Shane, Stephen and Kieran, will lead Carlow into the 2026 season, which begins with a Walsh Cup tie against Dublin on 4 January.
Bennett is a Ballysaggart clubman and represented his native county on the field, and has earned a wealth of managerial and coaching experience since retiring as a player.
He led Ferns to their first Wexford senior title in 2022 and at intercounty level worked alongside Davy Fitzgerald in Waterford, Wexford and most recently, Antrim.
Bennett also worked with Stephen Molumphy during his time at Kerry.
In a statement this evening, Carlow GAA Chairperson Jim Bolger wished Bennett, his management team and the players every success during his tenure.
