AIB Leinster LGFA Intermediate Club Championship Quarter Finals

Bennekerry/Tinryland 6-12 Coralstown/Kinnegad 0-4

Bennekerry/Tinryland march on to a Leinster semi-final after a 26 point victory over Coralstown/Kinnegad. The home side faced limited opposition for the second week in a row but showed the same level of relentlessness and hunger as last week.

The first half was initially a keenly fought affair, with the Westmeath side looking tenacious and well-organized. However that gave way to the familiar sight of Ruth Bermingham, Clíodhna Ní Shé and company running rampant. The latter scored the first goal on 11 minutes after the away keeper failed to deal with her lofted free into the square. After that there was a lot of free-flowing football, with Sarah Nolan netting the phenomenal second goal not long before half-time. It was 2-6 to 0-3 at the interval.

The second half was even less of a competition as the local side racked up a 4-6 to 0-1 margin of victory in those thirty minutes plus five of added time. Katie Bullen, Lauren Dwyer and Sinead Hayden got the goals, alongside an unfortunate own goal from the way side’s Amie Giles. It was an outstanding performance and Bennekerry/Tinryland will be full of confidence going into another home game in the semi-final next weekend against St Patrick's of Louth.
