Five star New Oak run out comfortable winners
The New Oak U16's girls team that beat Nurney 5-1
New Oak took the lead through Anna Gurhy. Nurney kept pressing and equalised through Nora Canal Garrido.
New Oak scored through Luanna Whelan and they added three more goals through Aoibhinn Keogh, Ciara Moran and a great goal by Whelan.
After both sides traded chances early, it was Killeshin who hit the front when Sine Leyden played a lovely through ball to Naoise Buckley, who finished high to the net. Both sides traded chances until half-time.
The second half started brightly for Killeshin when Molly O'Reilly scored a free kick from 35 yards. St Pat’s were not to be deterred, though, and they got one back from a close-range finish. Killeshin pushed on and produced one of the best goals ever seen at Scats Quakers Park. Julia Sykula produced an outrageous piece of skill to spin away from a defender and played it into Buckley, who expertly turned her marker to play it back to Julia who finished empathically to the net.
St Pat’s pushed on and pulled one back from a penalty.
On 32 minutes, a good shot from Hannah O’Neill was parried by the Kilree goalie, but Amy O’Neill was on hand to slide home the rebound.
Ballymurphy struck early in the second half with a great individual goal from Rose Foley, who came out of goal at half-time. Ballymurphy should have made the game safe after numerous chances were missed and with five minutes to go Killree pulled a goal back.
Bianca Frydewicz was first to test the Parkville goal with a shot after 20 minutes striking the post Then, on 50 minutes, Naoise Buckley was brilliantly stopped by the excellent Evie Bolger in the Parkville goal. Eventually, in the 55th minute, Bailey Bolton opened the scoring for Killeshin with a well-taken strike. The home side were caught on the break and on 65 minutes and Evie Brennan made it 2-0.
Burrin took an early lead, which was followed by a second. Ava Redmond and Winnie Rooney scored two goals each. There were some attempts at goal by Parkville, but they were unable to capitalise.
It was the home side who made the perfect start with early goals from Oonagh Murphy, Clodagh Kavanagh and a fantastic run/finish by Scarlett Langham.
St Joseph’s caused problems and the lively Emily Rowe was unlucky with two goalbound effects. Ellie Costello in the visitors’ goal made some amazing saves. Rowe scored the goal of the game when she cracked home an amazing free kick from 25 metres to leave it 3-1 at half-time to Nurney.
The second half saw goals from Grace Carroll and Murphy.
Both teams made changes at the break and Ballymurphy got a grip on the game and played some fantastic soccer, with their goalkeeper in fine form. Bagenalstown won on a loose ball and scored through Mia Rochford and added goals through Harlie Tuite and Chloe Hughes.
