Open meeting on disability rights

Adrienne Wallace, People Before Profit

PEOPLE Before Profit general election candidate cllr Adrienne Wallace has organised a meeting with representatives and activists from the disability sector, as she emphasises that disability must be a priority for the next government.

The meeting will take place today Friday, 22 November, in the Irish Wheelchair Association Centre, Kilkenny Road, Carlow at 2.30pm and is open to the public.

She will be joined by Danielle Dunne from Family Carers Ireland and an activist from the local access group, which wants to see accessible public infrastructure in Carlow.

“This government has been in power for the last 14 years and has not prioritised family carers or people with disabilities,” said cllr Wallace.

“Disability justice has been placed firmly on the agenda for the general election in a way it never was before, because families and organisations are fighting back, and scrapping the government’s green paper on disability is just one example of this,” she said.

All are welcome to attend.
