Ye Vagabonds back for homecoming gig at Carlow Arts Festival
Ye Vagabonds are back in Carlow for a homecoming concert as part of the upcoming Carlow Arts Festival
CARLOW ARTS Festival has this week given audiences a sneak peek of what’s in store for this year’s festival, with early bird tickets up for grabs and a chance to secure your place at the ultimate homecoming gig.
The festival runs from Wednesday to Sunday 4-8 June and this week announced four shows that will take place during the festival, with some early bird ticket options available.
The highlight is a gig from Carlow brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn, collectively Ye Vagabonds, who will perform a homecoming concert in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre on Saturday 7 June.
With 50% of available tickets already sold within 48 hours of the announcement, you’ll have to book quick if keen to attend. Ye Vagabonds have got a mega international tour underway, so it’s a case of London – New York – Carlow to catch the renowned duo of the Irish music scene. Carlow Arts Festival is thrilled to be hosting Ye Vagabonds’ homecoming show.
Another show announced is H.O.M.E by Fidget Feet and Tobi Omoteso, the first aerial Hip H’Opera created in Ireland. H.O.M.E explores the personal stories of each performer through aerial, movement, hip-hop, spoken word, music and opera.
The performance engages its audience viscerally and emotionally, led by a gritty and raw narration by critically acclaimed rapper Wilzee.
On Sunday 8 June, catch a performance of , a story about an ant called Amy (an award-winning ant, one might add), her brother Andy and a Brown Spider. Amy the ant works very hard. When she wins the Employee of the Month Award, Amy feels a happiness that drives her to work even harder. But is she truly content?
Written and performed by Julie Sharkey, this charming and moving story for children aged five to eight, tells the tale of an ant who learns to slow down.
On Wednesday 4 June, ***The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner*** runs at George Bernard Shaw Theatre. This play interrogates the true story of a notorious Nazi criminal who escaped sentencing and the lasting impact his horrendous legacy has had on the world. Carlow Arts Festival is honoured to present this crucial work, which raises searing questions about refuge, justice and hope.
