Vonnie held her book launch recently in St Fiacc’s Café, Graiguecullen with family, friends and the wider community to wish her well with her latest offering. “The launch went really, really well. It was such a cold night I was afraid there’d be no-one there, but I had a great crowd. I was delighted,” said Vonnie.

Friends in Fairyland follows on from Vonnie’s first children’s book Today in Fairyland and is part of a four-book series, largely themed around the seasons. Today in Fairyland was so well received that another book was almost a forgone conclusion. The book was launched by journalist and owner of eimear.ie Eimear Ní Bhraonáin.

The night also included some readings from Friends in Fairyland, with two stories contained in the book offering a fresh twist on the much-loved traditional nursery rhymes of Miss Muffet and Jack Spratt. The book is once again beautifully illustrated by Geraldine Cooper Sheridan and is dedicated to Vonnie’s number one fan – her grandson Rian.

And what would a Bolton night be without some music! At the launch, Vonnie’s daughter Yvonne brought along a number of her young musicians aged between seven and 18 for a rousing rendition of some terrific tunes.
