Two Co Carlow schools share €94k

CO CARLOW community-led projects shave successfully secured almost €90,000 in CLÁR funding.
Minister Malcolm Noonan welcomed this week’s announcement of €85,538 for two Co Carlow projects – €45,000 to Scoil Moling Glynn towards the installation of an astro turf pitch and €44,538 to St Patrick’s NS, Ballymurphy for an all-weather running track.
The funding, allocated under the Department of Rural and Community Development’s CLÁR programme, is directed at small infrastructural projects in designated rural areas. In Co Carlow, that is the southern part of the county.
“Any funding for community facilities and amenities is always welcome, but what makes this CLÁR funding really special is that the projects we’re seeing funded today are truly community-led initiatives, based on a bottom-up approach,” said minister Noonan.
“These ideas and proposals have come directly from community groups, sports clubs and schools, and they know better than anyone what enhancements, upgrades or additions to existing community facilities are most needed in their area.”
