Tullow Agricultural Show launched ahead of big show day in August

There was a real sense of excitement and anticipation when committee members, sponsors, supporters and volunteers got together to officially launch this year’s Tullow Agricultural Show in the Tara Arms, Tullow last week.
The evening was a great start in the countdown to show day on the 18 August at the Coppenagh showgrounds, just outside Tullow.
The night was opened officially by chairman of Tullow Show, Robert Keogh, who then introduced the show’s president, Richard Codd.
Guest speaker Adam Woods, an editor for the
, took to the podium. He spoke about the importance of young people’s involvement with any show and how great it was to see so many young faces in attendance. Adam has his finger on the pulse of all things beef-related in Ireland as he discusses the ins and outs of the industry weekly in the .
The Irish Shows Association national secretary Jim Harrison spoke a few words, highlighting how many people it takes to put on a show on the scale of the Tullow Show.
After the speeches, the crowd were entertained by Sonny and Friends, who gave a great buzz to the room!
This year, the show plays host to the All-Ireland Young Handlers competition, just one of the scores of events and competitions that are taking place.
It was great to see everyone together and a good reminder of how positive an impact the show makes on the local community. From old to new faces who came along, the committee would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the launch and they look forward to welcoming people all back to Coppenagh on 18 August for another brilliant show day.
The Tullow Agricultural Show, also known as the County Carlow Show, is one of the largest one- day events in County Carlow. Founded in 1946 in Coppenagh, Tullow, it welcomes 15,000 visitors every year, providing endless attractions for them to explore.
The wide programme of events incorporates many elements of cultural, commercial and competitive interests, including livestock, equestrian, dogs and domestic arts, with all-Ireland championship finals and qualifiers taking place on the day of the show.
Visitors can enjoy cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs, live music and dancing, vintage and farm machinery, food and trade stands, children's entertainment and much, much more!
The show is taking place on Sunday 18 August.
