Tributes paid to fatally assaulted dad of two

TRIBUTES have been pouring in for dad of two Darren Quigley, who was fatally assaulted in Carlow town on Monday night.
Mr Quigley (30) was found with serious injuries after gardaí responded to an incident at the house in New Oak estate shortly after 11.40pm.
Mr Quigley was treated at the scene before being taken to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny, where he was later pronounced dead.
Darren from 142 New Oak Estate, Carlow is the beloved son of Tony and Michelle, adored father of Ava and Erica and treasured brother of Adam. He will be sadly missed by his grandmother Agnes, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
In the many tributes posted on RIP.ie many spoke of the heartbreak his family must now endure in the wake of such a tragedy.
“No words will ease the heartbreak of Darren’s parents, brother, daughters, and extended family,” wrote one tribute.
“Simply offering condolences and hoping that in the darkness of despair and sorrow your memories be filled with light and happiness. May Angels welcome Darren at the gates of Heaven. RIP”.
The community of the close-knit estate is “shocked” at what occurred in there.
“People are shocked, it’s an awful thing to have happened,” one resident told
“There are two families now that have to deal with all this. There are parents without their child. This area will do what it always does – it will lift itself up and carry on, as it has done in the past.” Another tribute said; “My deepest condolences to the Quigley family on the tragic death of your beautiful son and brother Darren. No parent should have to go through this pain, forever young, sleep easy Darren.”
