Three cars set on fire in arson attack

Gardaí are investigating

TWO cars were completely burnt out and a third was extensively damaged in a spate of arson attacks carried out in Tullow and Carlow town.

Investigations are ongoing into the criminal activity that saw three cars set on fire in three separate locations, all in the early hours of Monday 10 March.

At around 12.40am, a car was completely engulfed in flames while parked in the driveway of a property at Gortnahowan in Tullow. The car was burnt out as a result.

Then, just eight minutes later, gardaí received a call about a second car being on fire, this time in Castlemore. The owner had somehow managed to extinguish the flames in this case but the vehicle was extensively damaged.

Gardaí subsequently got a report of a third car being targeted that night, in Oakley Park, Carlow. They got a call just before 3.20am and the blaze completely destroyed the vehicle.

Gardaí will not confirm that the three arson attacks are linked, or if there’s a feud involved.

“We are keeping an open mind on this, we’re open to exploring any possibility. We are not ruling out anything and enquires are ongoing,” said Inspector Conor Nolan.

Anyone with information relating any of these incidents is asked to contact the gardaí at Carlow Garda Station on 059 9136620.
