Murph loves to make friends, even with the neighbour's cat!

BELOVED family pets from across Ireland are vying for their place in the finals of this year’s beauty pageant with a twist – the Nose of Tralee!

Set up by Pet Sitters Ireland, the Nose of Tralee is a beauty pageant for our four-legged friends, with the finalists being chosen in the run-up to the original Rose of Tralee contest. And like its human counterpart, the competition for the title of Nose of Tralee is hotly contested!

This year, the competition attracted 1,650 entries, which were whittled down to three finalists for all 32 counties.

This Thursday, the organisers will announce the finalists and the public voting will begin on Thursday 8 August, continuing until 20 August.

In Co Carlow, three adorable dogs are vying for the county title, with each of them having their own photo and profile on the Pet Sitters Ireland website.

One of the trio is Roscoe, a gorgeous, glossy sausage who, like the best supermodels, turns heads wherever he goes! ‘Roscoe is admired everywhere he goes. He’s the best little fella!'

Murph, a big, friendly golden retriever, is the second contender. His biog says that he tries to make friends with everyone – dogs, postmen and the odd sheep, whether they want to or not!

The third canine beauty is Max, 'a small dog with a big personality!'
