JOE Duffy’s
was open and ready for business last week, as the popular radio show took its ‘Funny Friday’ slot to broadcast live from Carlow. The Woodford Dolmen Hotel was transformed into a radio studio for the lunchtime slot, welcoming a live audience of about 150 people.
The show featured a great line-up and panel of comedians and impersonators, including June Rodgers, Pat Fitzpatrick, Frank Forde, Doc Savage, Declan Callis and Packie O’Callaghan, who gave some great impersonations of Joe’s friends, including Michael D Higgins and Daniel O’Donnell! “It was a great experience for the hotel to be chosen to host the show and we were delighted to have Joe and his team here,” said Aisling Maher, marketing and strategy manager at the hotel.
“
is very popular show with a wide reach of listeners and between the laughs from the panel of entertainers to the atmosphere from the live audience it was certainly a Funny Friday for all of us here in the hotel,” she added.
Joe spoke to lots of people in the live audience, including Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather, Marie and John Joe celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, Bernie and Sonny celebrating 20 years of marriage and Ollie and Sandra, 51 years married. Joe also sang
to Carmel Hayden and Pat Mealey.
