A CARLOW girl is on a mission to find the next big thing that just might save the planet, in an inspiring new RTÉ show called What’s Next?

Kate Butler (12) from Barrowville, Kilkenny Road, Carlow stars in the series, which pits children from across Ireland against one another in a competition to come up with the next big idea that could save the planet.

Helping them develop the ideas are influencers Adam Beales, Demi Isaac Oviawe and MC Fitzpatrick, while their ideas are judged by Ireland’s own young genius inventor Fionn Ferreira.

Different themes

Each episode will focus on a different theme, such as fashion, food, waste, transport and homes, with Kate featuring in the transport episode and coming up with an ingenious idea – Food Fuel Scooters –turning yesterday’s leftovers into tomorrow’s journey to school.

The series culminates in an exciting showdown as the top ideas compete to be named What’s Next? series 1 champions, win the golden brainbox and get an opportunity to present their idea to a mystery millionaire investor.

Will Carlow come out on top?
