Quinns of Baltinglass to host grassland day

Experts will provide valuable information on maximising grass yields
QUINNS of Baltinglass will host their third and fourth events of the year – the grassland sustainability events – on Charles Greene’s farm in Milford, Co Carlow (R93Y685) from 11am to 1.30pm tomorrow, Wednesday 24 July.
Chloe Dwyer, ruminant support specialist for Quinns, will emphasise the importance of maximising grass yield. The event will feature four stations, each dedicated to exploring strategies for better grassland management. TP Whelehan will present Pro Clova XL, a new grassland spray designed to control weeds in white clover/grass swards. Chris Maughan, technical manager for TP Whelehan, will provide invaluable insights into the best practices for utilising this novel spray. Diarmuid Murphy of Germinal Seeds will underscore the importance of optimal seedbed conditions for successful establishment, emphasising the three Fs – fine, firm and fertile.
Luke Thornton from Omex will explain the effectiveness of Omex Liquid Fertiliser, showcasing its unique blend of nitrogen forms that ensure optimal crop availability while minimising the risk of nutrient loss.
The event will also feature a live demonstration with a sprayer, showcasing the practical application of liquid fertiliser solutions. Quinns spray specialist Clive Cole will guide attendees through the selection of nozzle options for liquid fertiliser application.
The event will conclude with refreshments and a raffle offering prizes worth more than €1,000 to lucky winners.
