Prospective students explore St Leo’s College at open evening

St Leo's College open evening ambassadors assembled in reception before the event started

ST LEO’S College threw open its doors to prospective students and their families recently when it hosted an open evening.

Every subject area was represented and allowed incoming students to gather information about the school’s ethos, facilities, programmes and curricula. It was also an opportunity for parents and guardians to explore the campus, most particularly the new hockey pitch, which was floodlit for the evening.

There were vibrant displays of music and student performances to reflect the successful sporting ethos, academic excellence and the myriad extra-curricular activities available to all students within St Leo’s College.

A spokesperson for the school said: “A sincere thank you to every member of staff and the hundreds of students who turned out to put on so many classroom demonstrations throughout the evening.” The event finished with a display of music and dance in the school gym and principal Niamh Broderick said a few words about the ethos and values of a Mercy school in the CEIST (Catholic Education, an Irish Schools Trust) tradition and what it means to be a student in St Leo’s College, Carlow.

Applications by prospective students will be accepted until Tuesday 22 October.
