Popular pub announces shock closure

ONE of Carlow town’s most popular and well-known pubs has just announced its imminent closure.

The Reddy family, whose public house is a landmark on Tullow Street, made their shock announcement on Facebook earlier today, Tuesday.

The message read: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Reddy’s Carlow as of the 30th of November. It has not been an easy decision but one that we have come to with great regret. We would like to take this time to thank each and every customer that stepped through our threshold in the many decades we have been open. We will always look back on the fond memories you have contributed to creating over the years.’ It continued: ‘We look forward to serving you all over the next month and hearing all of your stories and about your memorable occasions that we share in Reddy’s.

All vouchers purchased must be redeemed by the 30th of November 2025.’ The announcement came as a shock for the many generations of Carlovians who have frequented the pub, with many marking major milestones in their families with celebrations there.

Comments have been flooding in on social media, with punters reminiscing of good times spent there and wishing Carmel Reddy and her family all the best in the future.
