Planning lodged for new healthcare build in Tullow

Planning lodged for new healthcare build in Tullow

The planned building will hosue HSE health and social care services

A NEW primary healthcare building in Tullow has taken a step forward with planning permission being lodged. Westcourt Healthcare (Tullow) has submitted plans for a new part two-storey and part three-storey primary care centre building to accommodate HSE health and social care services in the heart of Tullow at Abbey Street.

The application says the facility would also provide general practice services, meeting rooms, administrative offices, along with staff facilities and reception.

The move has been welcomed locally by independent councillor William Paton. Speaking at a recent meeting of Tullow Municipal District, he said: “Looking at the drawings and the plans, it is a sizeable building. It will be the leading edge of healthcare for Tullow.

“It’s a project that we wish the very best of luck. It is essential to have services, including speech and language, physiotherapy and occupational therapy in that building. This is good news for Tullow, and I hope that it gets through the planning process with the greatest of ease.”

A primary care facility has long been on the agenda for Tullow. However, a temporary hiccup has arisen with Westcourt Healthcare’s planning application deemed incomplete by Carlow Co Council due to the placement issue of a site notice. A new application is expected to be lodged shortly.
