“We had a super launch that was really well attended,” said Eamonn Redmond, CPS chairperson.

“We had MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú there, minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, cathaoirleach cllr Fergal Browne and a number of local councillors … there was a great buzz on the night,” he added.

There are 32 members of the society displaying their work at the exhibition, which features 150 images of different genres, including an open section that includes landscape, portrait, seascape, wildlife and more.

There is also a really interesting section of images this year under the theme ‘Carlow at Work’, with many familiar faces and lots of local interest.

“There has been huge interest in the ‘Carlow at Work’ section and lots of well-known faces featured, including Celina from the fish shop, John O’Sullivan solicitor, Larry O’Toole, a groundsman at St Patrick College … that’s created lots and lots of interest,” said Eamonn.

The exhibition was opened by Eamonn Redmond on Friday 30 May and officially launched by cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, cllr Fergal Browne.

“We also had a few words from John Brophy, manager of Fairgreen Shopping Centre, who said he was delighted to have us back. Fairgreen is such a great venue for us and John and all the staff there can’t do enough for us – we get great support there,” said Eamonn.
