RAMBLING Houses dotted around County Carlow are now receiving funding from Creative Ireland.
Nine groups from around the county have been awarded Creative Ireland funding to support, enhance and develop Rambling House projects in Carlow.
The successful groups awarded funding through the scheme were celebrated at the Ballinabranna Rambling House night at their regular monthly get together.
Speaking at the event Leas Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, cllr Tommy Kinsella said: “This links to the four strategic priorities in Carlow’s culture and creativity strategy.
"First, the Rambling House projects play a leadership role in their commitment to promoting and reviving the tradition. Secondly, our Rambling House network seeks to strengthen cross sectorial networks, through collaboration and relationship building. Thirdly, they are built on cherishing and promoting this tradition, unique to County Carlow and finally, the nature of our Rambling Houses is that they are designed to build capacity between diverse groups, creative processes and creative people. I wish each grant recipient well with their endeavors and look forward to many more nights of music, stories, song, and dance in Carlow.”
Creative Communities Engagement Officer, Aileen Nolan said: “We believe in the innate creative potential of all communities across Carlow. Through Creative Ireland Carlow we aim to respond to the needs of our communities through working with local agencies and partners such as our Rambling House network. A special thanks to the Ballinabranna Rambling House committee and a word of congratulations to all the successful applicants and we look forward to seeing their projects come to fruition.”
