Man (20s) in serious condition and woman (20s) injured after hit-and-run in Cavan

A man in his 20s and a female pedestrian have been injured following a hit-and-run in Co Cavan on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred on L1513 Drumlark in Loreto Wood shortly after 6.45pm.

The collision involved a vehicle and a female pedestrian, aged in her 20s.

She was taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot.

The male passenger, aged in his 20s, was seriously injured, and was transferred to Cavan General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been contacted to attend the scene. The road is currently closed in both directions and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision and any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
