Minister has high praise for KCETB on visit to Carlow

KILKENNY and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) welcomed minster of state for higher education Marian Harkin to Carlow on Monday 9 June.

As part of her nationwide series of visits to education and training boards, minister Harkin was met by Dr Pauline Egan, acting chief executive, and Martha Bolger, director of further education and training (FET).

Speaking during the visit, minster Harkin said: “Every time I visit an ETB, I am inspired and impressed by the incredible work being carried out, and this was evident here in Kilkenny and Carlow ETB. This is a team that exemplifies dedication, innovation and creativity. They are delivering a wide-ranging suite of programmes and courses that meet the needs of learners from all walks of life, from established qualifications to new, bespoke offerings.” 

Welcoming minister Harkin to Carlow, Dr Egan: said “We are delighted to spotlight all that is good about Kilkenny and Carlow. We are proud of what we have achieved to date and are really ambitious for the future.” 

Presenting an overview of further education and training provision across the two counties, Ms Bolger said: “We want to lead the development of high-quality education and training opportunities across Kilkenny and Carlow.” 

In attendance during the visit were members of KCETB further education and training senior management team Melinda Niland, Bernadette O’Rourke, David Forde, Sarah Barron and Una Hayes, who joined in on what was a very worthy and knowledge sharing discussion.
