Man seriously injured in Athy stabbing

A MAN was seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Athy on Friday night, which gardaí are treating as attempted murder.

“A senior investigating officer has been appointed, statements have been taken and CCTV evidence has been gathered,” said a garda source.

The victim is in his 40s and the serious assault occurred in Flinter’s Close over an alleged dispute.

“It was very serious, he died and was brought back to life by the paramedics,” said a local.

There was speculation that the man had been airlifted to hospital but the Kildare Nationalist understands this was not the case.

“No arrests have been made, but an investigation is ongoing,” said the garda source.

“House-to-house enquiries are being made, and gardaí are seeking any dashcam evidence from the area on Friday night.”
