A SMALL business from County Carlow will get the chance to exhibit to almost 300,000 people at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Co Offaly, this month as part of the Local Enterprise Village. Home Glow Soy Candles, supported by Local Enterprise Office Carlow, is a business located in Tinryland. Since launching in June 2021, the company has been handcrafting a beautiful range of soy candles and wax melts, blending sustainability with style.
The Local Enterprise Village, an initiative of the Local Enterprise Offices, will house 30 small businesses from across the country and will be located at the heart of this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Offaly from 16 to 18 September.
Christine Scully, founder of Home Glow Soy Candles, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be part of this year’s National Ploughing Championships. Being selected to showcase Home Glow Soy Candles in the Local Enterprise Village is a huge honour and a massive opportunity for us as a small, independent business.
“The chance to meet almost 300,000 people, share our story, and introduce our scented soy candle range to a national audience is incredibly exciting. We’re passionate about creating sustainable, hand-poured products, and this event gives us a fantastic platform to grow our brand, connect with new customers and learn from other great businesses.”
Kieran Comerford, head of enterprise, Carlow Local Enterprise Office, said: “This is an opportunity like no other for a small business in Ireland. The chance to bring their ideas and products to almost 300,000 potential customers is a showcase like no other.
“The Local Enterprise Village has become one of those areas everyone wants to drop into to find their local business and see what they can pick up.”
Coilin O’ Reilly, chief executive of Carlow County Council, said: “Being part of the Local Enterprise Village at the National Ploughing Championships is not just about footfall on the day; it’s a powerful platform for national media exposure and digital visibility. With extensive media coverage and strong online engagement around the event, this gives our local business a unique opportunity to raise its profile, connect with a broader audience and make lasting connections.
“It’s a testament to the innovation and ambition of our local entrepreneurs, and we’re proud to support them on this exciting journey.”
This year the local enterprise offices are partnering with Google to enhance the offering within the Local Enterprise Village. Google will have its own area within the Local Enterprise Village where it will be hosting talks and demonstrations for small businesses and entrepreneurs who are looking to improve their business by utilising digital tools and AI.
