Live music rings around Carlow’s care homes this summer

CREATIVE Ireland Carlow and Carlow Arts Office have secured additional funding to continue their live music in residential healthcare settings initiative across County Carlow.

The first round of concerts was a resounding success when it finished last week at St Fiacc's House, Graiguecullen, following several weeks of music, singing and dancing.

This year's initiative is themed Round the house and mind the dresser, a phrase many will remember fondly from céilí days. Creative Ireland Carlow is collaborating with musicians Maksym Lozovyi and Alison Behan, along with Mad for Trad Carlow to deliver live music through 17 visits to eight residential healthcare settings throughout the summer.

The concerts are run in close collaboration with local musicians and residential healthcare settings, with the aim of ensuring people of all ages can experience creativity and positive ageing.

The next round of concerts will begin on 4 August while videos from the initiative can be viewed on the Creative Ireland Carlow Facebook page.
