Lidl given green light to build supermarket in Baltinglass

Lidl is coming to Baltinglass

SUPERMARKET chain Lidl has been given the green light by the planning watchdog An Coimisiún Pleanála to build a supermarket in Baltinglass. Fine Gael TD Edward Timmins revealed that he had been in contact with the planning authority and “they confirmed that planning had been granted for the Lidl supermarket in the town. This is welcome news and will give consumers further choices for shopping”.

In further good news for Baltinglass with regards to a footbridge over the River Slaney, deputy Timmins added: “I have been lobbying for a couple of years for a footbridge over the Slaney river in Baltinglass beside the existing bridge.” Following discussions with senior officials “the project will be moved on”, according to deputy Timmins.

“Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), who are responsible for the national roads, are supportive of the project and have now agreed funding to bring the project to planning. I will continue to lobby to ensure this project comes to fruition.”
