Jewellery stolen from house during daytime robbery

Gardaí are investigating the burglary
GARDAÍ are investigating two separate incidents of unlawful entry in the Carlow area over the past week.
A house in a Graiguecullen housing estate was burgled on Sunday afternoon, 7 September, between 1pm and 3.30pm. The burglary occurred while the occupants, a married couple, had left their home for a few hours that afternoon. Jewellery was stolen during the incident.
“The downstairs hall window appears to have been forced open, and the house was ransacked,” a member of An Garda Síochána told ***The Nationalist***.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area during the timeframe to come forward with information. There were no reports of other burglaries in the area.
In a separate incident, the window of an optician’s shop in Bagenalstown was smashed overnight on Tuesday, 2 September. However, nothing was stolen from the premises. It remains unclear whether the break-in was committed with the intention of theft or was an act of vandalism.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Carlow Garda Station.
