Investigations continue after petrol bomb thrown at house in Tullow

GARDAÍ are investigating an incident that occurred in Tullow in which a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in a residential area.

The incident happened in St Patrick’s Park, Tullow on last Monday night, 17 June, at around 11.30pm.

An item on fire was thrown at the house, causing some damage to the garden. There were people in the house at the time but, thankfully, no-one was hurt.

A video that purports to be of the incident circulated on social media afterwards, in which a person who was wearing a hoodie walks into the estate and then, minutes later, flames are seen outside one of the houses.

Petrol-type bomb

A garda spokesperson confirmed that a “petrol-type bomb” was used in the incident. They also said that they were still at the early stages of the investigation and that they believed it was an isolated incident.

"The detective unit in Carlow Garda Station are leading this. We really are at the early stages of this investigation. It could be an isolated incident,” said the spokesperson.

Strict confidence 

Gardaí are appealing for information, in strictest confidence, and are particularly looking for CCTV or dashcam footage in the Tullow area, including Coonahowan, Gortnahowan, the Thomas Traynor Road, the Castledermot Road and the Carlow Road.
