Housing progress outlined at district meeting

A HOUSING progress report was provided at a recent meeting of Carlow Municipal District.
Councillors heard that Barrack Street has eight dwellings, Cois Dara, which is at phase two, will have two units and work is ongoing, and that phase three will have 15 dwellings and the part five agreement is being finalised.
There will be two dwellings in both the Haymarket and Burrin Street, which are now “substantially complete”. Staplestown Road will have one unit and work is being carried out there; Culan Eanna will have four and the part eight process is ongoing.
An expression of interest for a turnkey development is being assessed for submission to the Department of Housing and Local Government for approval for 49 dwellings in Tanner Hall.
Two units in Elm Park have been completed, while work is ongoing at Montgomery Street, where 32 dwellings are being built.
Work on Millrace Gardens, where six units will be delivered, is substantially complete.
Developments at the proposal stage include The Numbers, with a planned 18 dwellings, and the project has had CALF application approved.
In relation to energy efficiency retrofits, 78 units were completed, while 70 units are being dealt with this year.
