A DONATION of €1,000 gathered from Rathanna Village Day was presented to the Holy Angels Daycare Centre on Saturday 11 October. The money will go towards supporting Holy Angels’s care for children with special needs from the age of 18 months to six years.

Donations of €200 each were also made to Rathanna Village Group, Rathanna ICA, Borris Men’s Shed and the Third Carlow Borris Scouts Group.

The town’s second annual village day took place on 15 June, organised by a committee of 12 led by the owners of Osborne’s Bar, Eric and Catherine Osborne. Attendees were asked to donate to cover the cost of running the event, with promises that any surplus would be distributed to local charities afterwards.

At the presentation ceremony, the Rathanna events committee thanked the more than 60 volunteers on the day, Carlow County Council, which supported the event, and those who attended and made donations on the day.

Over 1,500 visitors came to Rathanna on the day which celebrated ‘the best of village life’.
