Streetfest in Carlow town has been a great success
CARLOVIANS are being given an opportunity to embrace their inner Simon Cowell by donning their judging hats and heading over to YouTube to cast their vote in a highly-anticipated online busking competition.
As part of the vibrant Streetfest programme, local talent took to Tullow Street to entertain the masses. The top ten videos were then selected to go forward to an online vote and now it’ s up to the public to decide the winner by viewing and liking their favourite performances before the competition closes at midnight on Friday 16 August.
Videos were selected based on a combination of originality, musicality and overall performance, representing a diverse range of styles and genres showcasing the rich musical tapestry of Carlow.
Linda Culleton, economic development officer with Carlow’ s Local Enterprise Office, one of the key organisers of Streetfest, highlighted the event’ s impact on the town’ s atmosphere.
“The busking competition added a remarkable vibrancy to Carlow. It’ s been wonderful to see Lower Tullow Street come alive with music and creativity. Carlow is a perfect place to busk your heart away and this competition is a testament to the incredible talent and passion in our community,” she said.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, mayor Fintan Phelan said: “Supporting local talent is crucial for the cultural and economic growth of our town. This competition not only showcases the incredible talent we have in Carlow but also brings our community together in a unique and engaging way. I encourage everyone to watch, share and support these talented individuals.”
All ten videos are now live on the InCarlow Local Enterprise Office YouTube channel. Viewers can support their favourite acts by watching and liking the videos.
The performer with the most views and likes will be crowned the winner and receive a €200 Shop Local voucher.
