Great turnout for Carlow Daycare Centre quiz

THE atmosphere was just great when lovers of trivia attended a table quiz recently in the Seven Oaks Hotel in aid of Carlow Daycare Centre.
Organiser Bridgett O’Shea was delighted with how the evening went.
“It’s an annual event and is one of the main fundraisers for the daycare centre. We had a really good turnout. We also had Bernard Jennings as the MC, so he was just brilliant. His Mick Jagger impression will go down in history,” laughed Bridgett.
Bridgett is a committee member of Carlow Daycare Centre, which is headed by chairperson, Fr Tom Little, with Bernie Greene as secretary. Manager of the centre, Andrea Hiney, and members of the staff were in attendance, as were service users and their family members.

Over 20 teams took part in the quiz and, thanks to all the volunteers, it went very smoothly.
Bernie, along with Brenda Conway and Agnes Naud, corrected the answer sheets, and they were ably assisted by Agnes’s granddaughter Robin as well as Jasmine O’Shea Rush and Finn Murphy.

Bridgett first organised the table quizzes on an annual basis after her mother Breda started to attend the daycare centre in 2005, as a way of showing her support for the wonderful work that they do.
The centre, located on the Browneshill Road, Carlow, was first opened 21 years ago and was officially launched by then president Mary McAleese the following year.
