Gardaí find driver's license is 17 years out of date

ON Saturday afternoon (16 August) Gardai in Newbridge stopped an uninsured car and discovered the driver hadn’t held a valid licence for 17 years.
Using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) and Active Mobility technology the officers detected a driver with no insurance and a learner permit that expired in 2008.
The vehicle was immediately seized and court proceedings will follow in due course.
“Insurance and a a valid licence are legal requirements for everyone’s safety on the road,” said a garda spokesperson.
The identity of the driver has not been revealed at this time, but will in due course as soon as he is formally charged in court.
