Former hack turns to fighting crime

BRENDAN Lawrence, a former journalist with , was one of over 200 gardaí sworn in to the force in Templemore this month.
Brendan will return to familiar ground when he joins Carlow Garda Station.
He told national media at his passing out ceremony from Templemore Garda College, Co Tipperary, that he joined An Garda Síochána because he “needed something new”.
Brendan started his journalism career in in Carlow where he covered news and sport as well as being a columnist. He then moved to newspaper where and was promoted to the position of sports editor of .
He said that he joined An Garda Siochána because he needed “something more challenging” and with “15 years left of working, I just wanted a new direction,” he said.
