Fined in Carlow District Court for carrying passenger on e-scooter

A CARLOW man has been fined for carrying a passenger on an electric scooter in the town centre. Junio Costa (31) of 24 Dublin Street, Carlow appeared before Carlow District Court charged with using an electric scooter with the carriage of more than one person, contrary to the .
The court heard that on 9 August 2025, Garda Walsh observed Mr Costa on Centaur Street, Carlow town using the e-scooter with more than one person on board. The garda took details from Mr Costa and issued him with a fixed-charge penalty notice, which subsequently went unpaid.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted and fined the defendant €330, to be paid within 90 days.
