Filtered water at bus park will be free of charge

The public water font will be UV filtered
A NEW public water font will be installed at Carlow Bus Park offering UV-filter water free of charge.
At a recent meeting of Carlow Municipal District, director of services Padraig O’Gorman confirmed that a public water font had been considered by the council for some time and, while it had initially been hoped that it would be provided under an Uisce Éireann pilot scheme, that option has now closed so “we decided to begin the process ourselves”.
Mr O’Gorman stated that the public water font will be UV filtered with “a high grade of self-maintenance”.
Mayor cllr Fintan Phelan welcome confirmation of its arrival, pointing out that in August 2019 he had brought a motion to council calling for a public water font in the town.
“It will be easy for people to have their reuseable bottle and fill it up and I am sure people will utilise it,” he said, Cllr Andrea Dalton agreed that it was most welcome, adding that at that location there aren’t any or very minimal facilities to avail of water.
