Dotsy charms her way into final 32 of the Nose of Tralee contest

Adorable Dotsy needs your vote!

THE moment pet lovers across Ireland have been waiting for has arrived – public voting is now open for the Nose of Tralee 2025. After sifting through hundreds of adorable entries, the competition has narrowed down to 32 finalists, and we’re delighted to report that Carlow is proudly represented by a very special little lady.

Dotsy, a fluffy Maltipom from Carlow town, has proven that big personalities can come in small packages. This diminutive dynamo has already charmed her way past the initial judging rounds and now needs your vote to take home the ultimate prize.

According to her devoted owner Denise Ryan, Dotsy is far from your average pet. This clever canine has mastered tricks in both English and Irish, although she’ll only perform them when treats are on offer, naturally.

When she’s not busy being adorable at home, Dotsy enjoys her social life at Happy Campers Carlow daycare, where she meets up with her four-legged friends. Her owners describe her as “silly, sweet and a little bit sassy”, qualities that seem tailor-made for pet competition success.

The Nose of Tralee, now in its 12th year, welcomes all types of pets and has grown into Ireland’s largest pet competition. This year’s 32 finalists include the usual suspects of dogs and cats, but also feature a goat, proving once again that Irish pets are as diverse as they are loveable.

Kate McQuillan, organiser of the competition and owner of Pet Sitters Ireland, expressed her excitement about this year’s line-up: “The support from every corner of the country this year has been incredible – people are so proud of their local finalists. I can’t wait to see if this year’s winner will be a cat, dog or maybe even our first-ever goat Nose of Tralee.”

Voting couldn’t be simpler: just visit www.petsittersireland.com/nose-2025 and cast your vote once every 24 hours until 5pm on 18 August. The winner will be announced on 19 August and will receive a prize package worth hundreds of euros, including a €250 pet sitting voucher and professional photoshoot.

So, Carlow folk, let’s rally behind our local representative. Dotsy may be small, but with your support, she could prove that the best things really do come in fluffy little packages.
