A Carlow multi franchise car dealership, is delighted to announce that it has been ranked highest in the county for its promotion and sale of electric cars. Dooley Motors has been named as Carlow’s winner of the ZEVI (Zero Emissions Vehicles Ireland) EV Dealership of the Year Award for 2025. The Kia, Citroen, Fiat and Jeep Dealership in Carlow has been ranked as highest in the county for its promotion and sale of electric cars. Amongst the judging criteria, a mystery shop was performed on the dealership, assessing the team, the shopping experience for a consumer considering an electric car and the physical showroom/ test drive experience.

The Carlow business and another 133 dealerships participating in the awards were scored on factors, including the prominence of EVs in the showroom, salesperson knowledge of EVs and overall sales approach to matching the customers’ requirements with the most suitable car for them. EV training, the website of the dealership and sales trends were also factors assessed during the awarding process. Dooley Motors is one of 23 county winners that will now be shortlisted for the Regional Awards, which will be announced at this year’s Society of Irish Motor Industry annual dinner on February 20th.

Ruth Buggie, Head of Mobility and Smart Networks at SEAI said, “I want to congratulate this year’s county award winners, with extremely high standards demonstrated by all competing dealerships. This is the fourth year of the awards, and once again we have experienced a good level of participation which continues to demonstrate the commitment by dealerships towards our net zero targets, helping Ireland to achieve a cleaner, more efficient transport future”.

Rowena Dooley, Dealer Principal of Dooley Motors, congratulated the entire team for their work and commitment in the area of promotion of electric cars. ‘It has been a cross departmental team effort for gaining a collective understanding and appreciation of the move towards electric for our customers. From all involved in aftersales, to the sales team, parts team, management and reception staff, we have all gained an understanding of the benefits of electric vehicles and also the alternatives that are available in terms of PHEV (plug in) or Hybrid for those not quite ready to make the transition to full electric at this time.

’ Rowena went on to add, ‘we’re seeing sales of electric cars up 20% year on year, which has been strongly influenced by the substantial reduction in prices of electric vehicles in recent years, advancements in the range that electric cars are now offering, affordability of driving and maintenance, choice and availability of models and enhanced finance rates for electric vehicles. The free home charger offered by all the brands we sell, has also helped make the transition over to electric as seamless as possible for our customers.’ ‘We offer a range of brands and models to suit all drivers’ styles and budgets and if people are considering the move towards electric, we would strongly recommend taking an extended test drive to really understand the advantages of switching to electric. There has never been a better time to explore your options and we’re here to assist.’
