DOG wardens will be patrolling various areas across the county over the coming weeks. These patrols are part of an ongoing effort to promote responsible dog ownership and ensure compliance with dog licencing regulations.

Carlow Co Council said that the patrols are not about penalties, but pet owners can incur fines if they don't pick up their dog's waste from public spaces; if they don't have licences, microchips and name tags for their dogs.

The aim of the patrols is to create awareness and encourage responsible pet ownership.

All dog owners are reminded that it is a legal requirement to have a valid dog licence. A valid licence helps ensure that all dogs are traceable and protected and it supports the important work of animal welfare services in the county.

Licences can be purchased at your local post office or online at www.licences.ie.
