Marcus’s interaction with all the children was very heartfelt and his ultimate message was to “run with a smile on your face” in all aspects of life and sport.

“It’s a message which resonates with us all. We would like to give Marcus an enormous thank you for taking the time and interest in sharing your amazing, inspiring and motivational story with us all,” said a spokesperson for the school.

All at Ballon NS had an opportunity to raise its second Active Schools flag when they were also joined by their local Special Olympian Michelle Kenny who, together with Marcus, proudly raised the flag to rapturous applause.

“What a great day was had by both staff and students, who embraced the importance of respect, excellence and a healthy mind and body through sport. A huge thank you to our Active Schools co-ordinator Ms Maxwell and the Active Schools Committee, which did an outstanding job in making this experience a reality for our school,” said the spokesperson.
