Gardaí arrived after an alarm was set off
A MOTHER of one who was involved in a brawl in a Carlow hotel was last week convicted and fined when she appeared before the local district court.
Britney Harrington (24) pleaded guilty to using or threatening to use unlawful violence during an incident that occurred at the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Kilkenny Road, Carlow on 28 January 2023.
Sergeant Hud Kelly outlined the details last week, saying that Carlow gardaí were alerted to an incident in the hotel after an alarm was set off.
When they arrived there, he said, they found two women and others from the Travelling community fighting. Sgt Kelly said that they were volatile and threatening towards the gardaí and that Ms Harrington's injured party suffered from swelling and bruising to the face.
Judge Geraldine Carthy heard that Ms Harrington, Walshestown, Newbridge, Co Kildare had one child and had never been before the court before.
Judge Carthy convicted and fined her €300.
