Sent forward to circuit court on three sexual assault charges

A DEFENDANT was served with a book of evidence in connection with three counts of sexual assault when he appeared before Carlow District Court recently.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sent forward to appear before the next sitting of Carlow Circuit Court on 17 February for trial by way of indictment.
Judge Geraldine Carthy put the man on an alibi warning for all three matters, stating that if he wished to rely on an alibi, he must advise the prosecution team in writing.
Judge Carthy remanded the defendant on bail of €5,000 own bond and set a number of conditions, including that he must sign on one day a week at a garda station in the county.
