A CARLOW driver was put off the road for two years and fined a total of €500 when she appeared before the local district court. Lorraine Heary, 19 Mount Leinster Park, Tullow Road, Carlow pleaded guilty to driving without insurance or a driving licence and to failing to produce the relevant documents after she was stopped by gardaí at Kilkenny Road, Carlow on 25 November 2023.

Sergeant Hud Kelly told Judge Geraldine Carthy that Ms Heary had nine previous convictions, but none for road traffic matters. Solicitor Joe Farrell said that 44-year-old Ms Heary apologised to the court.

Judge Carthy disqualified Ms Heary from driving for two years and fined her €300 on the insurance offence, while also fining her a further €200 for not having a driving licence.
