A CARLOW man was found guilty of engaging in the coercive control of his ex-partner as well as falsely imprisoning her and of threatening to kill or harm her when he appeared before the local circuit court last week after previously admitting to a charge of seriously assaulting her.

Gavin Doran, Olive Crescent, Fruithill, Carlow was found guilty on all counts by a unanimous jury last Tuesday after they deliberated for about four hours.

The coercive control offence was dated from 1 January 2019 to 31 October 2021, while the other charges arose from an incident that occurred at Mr Doran’s address between 30 October 2021 and 31 October 2021.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly adjourned sentencing Mr Doran (38) until the next sitting of the circuit court in November.
