Driver pulled out in front of squad car

A MOTORIST who pulled out in front of a squad car while driving over the legal alcohol limit was fined and put off the road when he appeared before Carlow District Court last week.
Florin Iftin, Edward Street, Baltinglass pleaded guilty to drink-driving and dangerous driving at Main Street, Baltinglass on 1 April 2023.
Sergeant Hud Kelly told the court that Mr Iftin pulled out in front of a squad car on Edward Street, Baltinglass before driving over a bridge and onto Main Street in a dangerous manner.
He said that Mr Iftin’s breath test showed a reading of 71/100, which is three times over the legal limit.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted and fined Mr Iftin a total of €500 and also put him off the road for two years.
